All Saints Sixth Form College (ASFC) has set new standards by achieving the best Key Stage 5 results they have ever seen in the recent Key Stage 5 exams. ASFC which is part of the All Saints Multi-Academy Trust, is celebrating the fact that more young people than ever before have achieved the top grades, meaning that a record number will be heading off to some of the country’s top universities and apprenticeships. Particularly pleasing is that the percentage of students achieving A*-C grades in our eleven A Level subjects which is the most improved in the cities twenty seven A Level providers.

Mrs Lawson, Head of Sixth Form, said: “In every measure that we are evaluated against, our students have set new standards this year.”
There was a significant increase in the number of higher grades achieved in our eleven A levels, 10% of all A level grades were at A* or A, 23% were at A*-B and 49% were at A*-C (last year we achieved 0%, 9% and 28% respectively). We had more than twice as many entries due to more students taking A Levels. The biggest indicator at A Level is our average grade, which has improved from a E to a C (C is the National Average).

Students continue to perform well above the national average across all eleven vocational subjects we offer. Our average grade was a Distinction, with 10% at Distinction*. 80% of all grades were at Merit +.Overall 182 qualifications were taken, 83 A Levels and 99 Level 3 BTEC’s by 79 students. Overall 35% of all grades were at A*/A or equivalent. In next year’s Year 13 we will have 115 students and expect to admit close to 140 into Year 12 next week (we have 207 applications).

These results are on the back of a fantastic year for the ASFC, which was recently rated “Good” by Ofsted in May 2019, who noted that “leaders of the sixth form have a clear vision for its development” and that “students in the sixth form benefit from strong teaching.”

Mrs Lawson continued: “It really has been an incredible year for everyone at All Saints Sixth Form College. Not only have we received significant praise from Ofsted, but these results are the missing piece of the jigsaw and are a testament to the hard work of staff and students.”

“We are delighted with all of the students and there are some amazing results. All those that wanted to go to university have secured a place in a wide range of subjects from Sociology to Biomedical science, Law , Psychology, English with Creative Writing and History. The vast majority are going to their first choice University. Students entering employment have secured jobs in a wide variety of professions.”
Mrs Lawson, Head of the College added: “Congratulations and well done to all of our students. I would like to wish them all the very best for the future and look forward to hearing about all that they go on to achieve.”

Mr Lancaster added that “All Saints Sixth Form College has always had some excellent BTEC results. What is incredibly pleasing is that this year there has also been a step change in achievements across the more traditional A-Level subjects as well. It shows that wherever a student’s talents lie, they will be able to achieve and excel at All Saints Sixth Form College.”
