What is this course about?

This engaging and flexible course gives students the opportunity to engage with the relationship of human populations to each other over space and time, study the relationship between human populations with their physical environment from local to global and to consider their own role in relation to themes and issues being studied and the roles, values and attitudes of others including decision makers. Students will also be expected to undertake Geography Fieldwork.

How you will be assessed?

All units are externally assesed:

Physical Geography (40% of marks) 2.30 hour written exam

Human Geography 2.30 hour written exam (40% of marks)

Geographical Investigation 3,000 – 4,000 word essay (20% of marks)

Unit 1 – Physical Geography
Unit 2 – Human Geography
Unit 3 – Geographical Investigation

What will it prepare you for?

When taken alongside other A level or L3 BTEC qualifications, this course can help you to progress onto higher education or into an apprenticeship or employment in the geography, humanities or physical science area.

There are many relevant science degree courses including Geography, Surveying, Town Planning, Humanities.

In addition students will be fully prepared to undertake apprenticeships in a relevant sector.

Subject entry requirements:

• GCSE grade 5 or above in mathematics and English
• GCSE grade C or above in Geography or History
